Drift Study - July 29, 2004
Timed release at Estes Head Pier on the ebb tide. A single barrel drifter was released on an hourly basis starting at 9AM. High water in Eastport was at 10:21AM. This timed release was designed to capture information about ebb tide currents around the Estes Head Pier in Eastport. The first two drifters released (red and blue) moved as expected as they floated towards Head Harbor Passage. The final three drifters all moved slowly into Broad Cove, in what would seem to be against the general movement of the tide on an ebb. All drifters were retrieved before they could contact aquaculture gear in Broad Cove.
